AI GLASGOW FILMSTOCK welcomes short films from all over the world that are created fully or partially with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools, neural networks, or generative technologies.

The official submission window for our AI Edition 2026 (festival: October 23, 2026) is now open. Films must not exceed 40 minutes, including credits. Selected films will be screened in Glasgow with optional director Q&As and audience discussions.

Filmmakers must briefly describe how AI was used in the creation of the film. We accept both fully AI-generated works and hybrid workflows where AI is one part of a broader creative process. Premiere status is not required. We proudly accept entries via FilmFreeway.

How AI was used — required on entry

Tools, workflow, creative process, or the specific elements generated or assisted by AI. Fully AI and hybrid both qualify; final creative responsibility stays with you.

Rules & terms

White copy — festivalread before you stamp
  1. 1.

    Meaningful AI use

Submitted films must use AI tools in a meaningful part of the creative process (e.g. AI-generated video/animation/images, AI-assisted editing or VFX, synthetic voices, AI sound/music, text-to-video, virtual production, or hybrid live-action + AI workflows). Fully AI-generated and hybrid works are welcome.

  2. 2.

    Describe your workflow

Filmmakers must briefly describe how AI was used — tools, workflow, creative process, or specific elements generated or assisted by AI. Final creative responsibility remains with the submitter.

  3. 3.

    Length & language

Films must not exceed 40 minutes including credits. Films in any language are accepted; all non-English films must include English subtitles. Submissions without English subtitles will not be considered.

  4. 4.

    Premiere status

Not required. We accept films that have screened at other festivals, online platforms, private events, or previous showcases.

  5. 5.

    Technical requirements

If selected, provide a high-quality digital screening file (.mp4 or .mov preferred). Filmmakers are responsible for ensuring files meet technical requirements for screening.

  6. 6.

    Rights, likeness & deepfakes

By submitting, you confirm you own the rights or have necessary permissions for all material (images, music, voices, performances, scripts, archival, third-party content). AI-generated voices, likenesses, or synthetic representations of identifiable persons require appropriate permissions and ethical consideration. Misleading deepfakes, non-consensual likeness use, defamatory material, hate speech, explicit exploitation, or illegal content will not be considered.

  7. 7.

    Selection & notification

Submissions are reviewed by our programming team and guest curators based on originality, craft, emotional resonance, visual language, concept, ethical use of AI, and cinematic impact. Selected filmmakers will be notified by email and FilmFreeway by October 16, 2026.

  8. 8.

    Awards & promotion

Selected films are eligible for jury awards. Winners receive official laurels, certificates, and inclusion in festival press and promotions. By submitting, filmmakers grant AI GLASGOW FILMSTOCK permission to use stills, short clips, trailers, posters, and excerpts for promotional purposes related to the festival. Entry fees are non-refundable.
